We've been getting a crazy amount of rain here in Florida over the past few weeks. My pool is filling up just about every day. The overflow drain is working correctly, so the pool isn't overflowing, but the skimmer isn't working well due to the high water.
I drained some of the water today by turning off the spa return and turning on the spa main drain, letting it empty out to about 5 inches above the drain, then filling it back up by turning off the drain and turning on the spa return. This forced all the spa water into the pool, which drained out of the overflow pipe, and then refilled the spa with water from the pool. Doing this a few times reduced the water level enough to get the skimmer working again.
Are there any issues with draining the pool this way? Should I just spring for a submersible pump (I have a cartridge filter with no way to hook up a hose)?
Thanks!
