Lots of air bubbles in basket

Not sure what to do besides lube the o- ring on the basket cover. I also hear a noise in the sand filter. Like a crackling noise. I replaced sand and the lateral assembly last year

The sound in the filter is air. Do you have an air bleed or pressure relief valve? Normally you can bleed trapped air that way.

Do clean and lube the gasket on the pump basket lid. Be sure the weir is freely moving in the skimmer.

Not sure where a bleeder valve would be on a Hayward vari flo sand filter. The weir seems to be working. When the pump is on the weir is like 3/4 way open. It doesn’t seem to move freely, just stay open. I can move the weiropen n close with my hand so not stuck.
