Los Angeles Hillside, Pool Instal Challenges

We have been talking about installing a pool in our backyard for 5 years or more and have found many excuses not to go ahead.
Now we are ready! Would like any help on this question. We live on a hillside w challenging access. I think they would need to crane in equipment to excavate because the access to the backyard (at the side of the house) is only 30". Not even sure if it's possible to crane into the backyard ? Has anyone installed a pool on a hillside in Los Angeles with limited access? Would love to get any referrals for a pool co?? And any advice on choosing the safest, best type for a hillside in LA. It's not the biggest back yard, could accommodate a 9' x 20' size pool.

thx

HI! That does sound like a challenge BUT please tell me you meant 30' (feet) not " inches on the side of the house. Man that IS close!

I would think your best bet would be to call some (at least 5) pool builders and see what they have to say. Make sure to write down what they say and share it here. It can be a learning experience for all of us.

Hi - thx for your response. I do mean 30" on one side of the house, the only way that it could be done would be for me to get permission from my neighbour to remove a section of shared fencing on the side of the house to open up the access to allow the equipment to drive across her property line to complete the work.
I'm not sure that the neighbour would comply, not the friendliest of neighbours.

There are definitely challenges with this build:
1) Access for equipment.
2) Small lot.
3) Hillside
4) How does a pool survive an earthquake in Los Angeles, do they crack??
