Well, I'm finally fed up with Pentair... In 7 years I've had to replace 3 IC40 units. I clean them every year and take them off during winter. Living in NE, we only use it 4 months out of the year. After researching, liking the CircuPool units and the fact that they have a great warranty. Just thought I'd run it by the TFP crowd. :) Looking at either the RJ60+ or Core55, Starting to go blind researching and would appreciate any feedback!

FYI -- 38,500 gallon in-ground pool.

Thanks,
Scott

You need a minimum unit for 60k gallons to stretch the units lifespan. A 40k (IC40) unit was working near 100% to maintain your pool. My IC60 lasted 6.5 years with a 35k gallon pool and i abused the unit badly. Individual results may vary of course but a larger unit will definitely last longer whichever brand you choose. I stuck with Pentair being happy with my original. Circupool comes highly reccomended here.

The CORE-55 is simpler to install because the flow switch and control panel are built into the unit. The RJ60+ is a little more complicated to install because it requires a separate flow switch to be plumbed in, and the control unit needs to be mounted somewhere. It provides a bit more chlorinating capacity, however, and the control panel has more features, such as display of pool temperature, salinity level, etc. It's also a bit less expensive. I chose the CORE-55 because of the ease of installation and it fit my equipment configuration. In hindsight, the RJ60+ would have worked fine for me as well.

I strongly considered both of those. And the IC60 took a week and a half to deliver so then I had to deal with a cloudy green pool when it came. But in the end I chose not to change the system that worked for me. Now that I know how to care for it properly, I’m expecting up to 10 seasons from the new one.

As long as you go bigger Clark, you probably won’t go wrong either way.

Thanks to all who have chimed in! Anybody have any comments about the Core55 vs. RJ60? I like the idea that the RJ60 has a bit more in depth features; however, i've lived with basic ones on the current IC40 so I guess not a necessity.
