Looking for new pool build system information

csk,

A 40K cell in your location and with an Autocover, will work just fine for you.

If you go with Pentair, I'd go with an EasyTouch or IntelliCenter that includes the salt system as a package. The package deals include an internal SWCG power center instead of an external box.

Find out if the EasyTouch that Royal sells comes with an IC40 salt system or not. If it does, that would work great.

It is able to be configured with a
Pentair Easytouch 4PSC-IC40 (40k) Salt System
SKU: 520593 for $1,637.99
And I would also have to add the ScreenLogic interface to add on the ability to set things from my computer or phone, correct? Would I need a physical drop for the internet connection or is it wireless? From what I could tell it does come with a wireless transponder, but I wanted to check. That adds another $579.00 to the cost.
The only other add-on I wondered about is the Pentair Air or Water Temp Sensor. Is that something you would recommend?
Thank you all so much for answering my questions!

The ET bundle comes with air and water sensor.

Price oput the equivelent IntelliCenter bundle and I think you will find the price close to the ET + ScreenLogic cost.

I would prefer the Intellicenter, but it is not offered as an option on the pool kit I am ordering and I have not been able to find it anywhere else to order.

I did check there and they are listed as out of stock.

Have you called Polytec and discussed with them when it may be available if you put an order in today?

Most good stuff is not available for immediate shipment.

csk,

Having an EasyTouch without ScreenLogic is like riding a horse bareback. Yes it can be done, but not near as comfortable as having a saddle..

The almost $600 kit comes with a Protocol Adapter and wireless links between the EasyTouch and your home network. (Used to be less than $400)

The protocol adapter translates "Pentair" into "Ethernet"

I use my PC to control my pool because it works better for me, but you can have it installed on your phone, tablet or PC.

You can setup schedules, control the SWCG, pump speeds, and turn thing on and off..

So I think I am leaning towards the Intellicenter 521905. It does not look like it is an option to get the system w/o the valves (since I do not need them). This is the system with the ability to control 5 things. Would I need the 8? Our plans right now are to run the pump, filter, salt generator, lights (4 total), the pool cover sensor, and maybe a heater and landscape lights down the road, so is the 5 enough?
Another question about pool lights - how many do we really need for a 20x40? I currently have picked 4 of the Pentair MicroBrite 12V LED. Is that the right amount?
And any thoughts of a Coverstar autocover vs. a APC autocover? I have the choice of either. I was leaning towards the coverstar because of the app to be able to close the pool cover from my phone and connect to the Intellicenter.

Thanks again for your help!

I didn’t think any of them let you close the pool from phone because of safety reasons. At least that’s what they have all stated over the years. You should have full visibility of the pool when closing the cover to ensure no one gets trapped in the pool.

Yes, I was wrong about that. But I do need the feature that tells us when it is still open! I have a tendency to forget things being left open.
