Liquid Chlorine
I'm not sure when it happened. But since I was out of town for two weeks, some of the liquid Chlorine I bought and stored in my garage cabinet seeped out and ruined the cabinet and some stuff below.

Does anyone have any guesses as to why the chlorine seeped out? I had it on its side, so I won't be doing that again.20240610_125104.jpg20240610_125110.jpg20240610_125115.jpg20240610_125118.jpg20240610_125238.jpg20240610_131945.jpg20240610_131950.jpg

Hey Brad and Welcome !!!

Liquid chlorine caps are typically vented so if the seals were damaged in shipping, or dropping the box on its side, it's entirely plausible that they'd leak.

Caps on the bottles are vented as Newdude mentioned.

At the same time if they are stored upright in a area that has temperature swings you can also have a release and build up of chlorine vapors if the area is not well vented. So storing in a closet or cabinet isn't ideal unless it's meant to store chemicals and can vent vapors safely.

Where would you say is the best place to store liquid chlorine? I've been keeping it in my garage, which, in the AZ summer heat can get pretty warm since it is not air-conditioned.

A high open shelf out of reach of children- not near any other chems (preferably in a plastic tub)- the garage is ok if that’s your most temperate option.
Certainly not near your ryobi stuff. 😳
If kids aren’t a concern sit it on the floor so if there’s drips/leaks you don’t have any issues.
I keep mine under my pool deck in the shade year round. The stuff i get is not in see through bottles though.

I get chlorine in a 4 pack - comes in a plastic container/tote that holds all 4 gallons.
I keep it in the laundry room on the floor - there are no small children in the house.
Any possible leak is contained by the tote.
My garage high temps have exceeded 100 in the past week.

Fellow Arizonian, where do you purchase your 4-packs from if you don't mind me asking? Any hidden gems i should know about?

A&M Corsons in the East Valley - no locations on your side of town.
Call around to pool stores local to you or check Hasa.com for dealers in your area.

Better long term option is a SWG.
