Light green algae

Hello, new to this forum so thank you in advance for any advice. I am currently a new owner of a pool ( round approx 24x24 approx 4 ft deep vinyl ). I’ve been currently trying to turn my green pool to blue over the past two days. Currently at this time it’s light green color. Two days prior it was a heavy dark green, couldn’t see the floor. I have a Hayward pool pump with the finger filters. I’ve almost used a whole box of DE in the past two day. My pool increase in pressure from 18 to 26 in about 2-3 hours. I’ve have been back washing every time and went through about 8 bags of chlorine (HTH brand), algaecide (Clorox) and 3 3 inch tablets placed in to the pool. I’ve been using my viper vacuum machine every few hours. Just want to make sure I’m doing this right and how I can get that crystal clear water.
Attached in my latest strip, after that strip I placed two more bags of chlorine (the picture below is how it currently looks after those bags)

Welcome to TFP.
We can help for sure with our SLAM Process that is proven time and time again by many members.
Only chlorine kills algae. Then you filter or vacuum to waste to remove the algae.
The only thing required is the use of Liquid Chlorine (LC) and a proper test kits. You need to be able to test FC levels above 12 ppm so test strips do not help. Please consider the purchase of one of these test kits Test Kits Compared. It is really needed for proper testing.

If your CYA is really zero I am surprised you have any FC as UV will burn off any chlorine with no CYA to protect it.
We do not support the use of algaecides as they add unwanted chemicals.
Why are you adding DE? I know it may trap more algae but it is also blocking your filter which is increasing the pressure.

Hello thank you Herman,

I was told by a local pool company any time I backwash I should be adding in D.E. every time in which will allow my filter to run more efficiently. I noticed without D.E. the pump pressure is high and water isn’t moving into the pump (keeping water stagnant).

In regards to the CYA, I’ve been lucky it’s been cloudy and raining. But I will purchase stabilizer.
