Light Fixture Replacement with Pics Purex 6422 Discontinued O Ring to Cheap LED 12V

Long time lurker. I thought this post might be helpful and I could give back to the forum I have learned so much from. My pool was built in 1996 in Sarasota, FL. I am replacing my light fixture because the Purex 6422 O rings were discontinued and mine is broken. I did a stupid thing and tried to seal up the fixture with the broken O Ring and some Magic Lube. When I dipped it under water to test it breached the seal pretty quick. I pulled the old fixture and saw a little Magic Lube film on the water and decided it was time for a new light. That PTFE Magic Lube is some nasty stuff.

I found a really cheap color changing replacement fixture after quite a bit of research and price comparing. There is an even cheaper one with the standard flood bulb in it. This was considerably cheaper than everything else I was looking at. If you have one of these old Sunsaver Purex 6422 you might want to consider grabbing one of these. I have zero affiliation with inyopools.

Here is the PL5820 sale light I bought for $200. It has the PL5808 bulb in it which is $150 on it's own. The fixture is the Hayward SP058030.

I found this after I received my light and looked up the Hayward fixture number. It is on sale for $75 for the fixture with the stand flood bulb in it.

My niche is a Purex 6515. No problems with the fit. I have a 12V system which I think is code in Florida.

I was able to change out the light without even getting in the pool. Super easy. I figured these pictures would be helpful.

This is how I tied and taped the line to fish through the conduit.

Attach the line to the old fixture wire in the junction box after you disconnect the wiring. Pull it through and reattach the line to the new fixture wire. Pull it back through to the junction box. Cut off the extra wire and rewire.

Extra from the new fixture that I cut off.

Wrap the extra wire and screw the light back into the niche.

Cheap and easy. Didn't even have to get in the pool. I hope this helps.

Nice work! Yeah you had to try to see if the old one could be fixed...........you never know.

Did you have any trouble fishing the line through? Some times that can be a bear with lots of adult words said.
