LED light bulb swap??

I have a 12v in-ground pool light that wasn't working so I decided to switch out to a LED bulb while I had the light out. But it still won't illuminate.

My question is will a LED bulb work in a "regular"light fixture? If so it must be a bad fixture or a short somewhere, my breaker doesn't trip and I know I'm getting power at the switch.

Just in case anybody searches for this issue in the future...An LED bulb will NOT work in a Hayward Astrolite. When I put a new incandescent bulb back in it worked. Guess thats what I'm staying with because I don't think I want to switch out for a LED fixture for $400+.
