Leave S200 or Warrior SE in pool

Down here in Houston do you see any problem just leaving the robot in the pool 24/7? I don’t feel like having to take this thing out if I don’t need to. Yes we have some cold days and pool water in the 50’s for a month or two. I don’t have heavy cleaning here. Just some occasional leaves and pollen on the spring. I’ll take out to empty/clean but would like to leave in the pool otherwise.

What I did love about my Racer was I put it in the pool and NEVER took it out. It cleaned daily on a schedule from my ScreenLogic and I got five good years out of it. Now I need to replace the 30’+ hose and it’s like $300. Ridiculous.

B,

I have three robots in three different pools. At my two rent house pools, the robots stay in the pool 24/7 unless the tenants takes them out to swim.

The unit at my house only gets used about 2 or 3 times a week, so I take it out. I take it out because I don't want to see it in my pool. Not because I worry about the robot's lifespan.

I guess my point is that I don't think it matters much one way or the other. If it does, I have not seen it yet.

Thanks,

Jim R.

I only take mine out now and then to clean it out and do a quick rinse of the basket. It stays in the pool unless we are swimming.

I take mine out for the winter because my pool is closed - during the swim season it lives in the pool & runs every day. When I empty it’s basket I try to let it hang out on the deck a while mainly to dry out the cable then return it to the pool before its regularly scheduled program runs.
There has been some discussion here about leaving them in very cold water & it allowing some seals to shrink enabling water to get into places it’s not supposed to.
If I were in your situation (keeping the pool open year round) I would probably remove it between cleanings when the need for running it was reduced to once a week as those are likely the times when the water temp is at its lowest. Kind of a meet in the middle situation.

Water intrusion into the o-ring sealed motor case will ruin a pool bot and if you are out of the warranty it's an expensive repair or $1K replacement plus loss of use. Low water temps affect o-ring seals and long exposure under water raises the risk of failure.
Evaluate your situational risk vs hassle factor, consider your good luck history and decide.
