Leaking pump

Before I start tearing into this thing.

Leaking theough weep hole on the end. And also in the middle.

Repair or replace?

Mechanical seal likely needs replacing.

Agree with above. I would try to repair. Not terribly difficult but the longer it continues to leak the higher the chance that it will rust out your motor. If the motor starts getting louder it may indicate that the bearings are already going bad...

Yes, you have the SP1515. Did you get the new seals installed yet?

Not yet. Was out of town.
Breaker tripped too.

doesn’t show the impeller for this 1.5hp pump. Not that I need it.

And doesn’t even show the mechanical seal for my pump.

Can i just replace with a two speed?

And then I find this number which now matches that seal.

I just watched this video and took it apart to this level. Is it possible that these are not, not, the two seals that are leaking? To me it looks like on the motor. Does that even make sense?

Very hard to see but if you look inside near the motor and windings, it looks like it’s corroded in there also. Not happy since this is only three years old.

Seals replaced.
Breaker keeps tripping.
Reads 113v so it must be the motor.

Looks like I will try a two speed pump this time.

New dual speed is great.

So very quiet on both high and low.

Whether it’s just appearance or better filtering, on low it appears much cleaner.

No more small pile of stuff in the middle of the pool.

Eye is aimed the same.
