Hi All,

My multiport valve is leaking through the top where the handle is (3 photos attached). I was hoping to just replace the valve since the PVC plumbing seems good. I searched Amazon and found

1. Pentair 270067 2-Inch Top Valve Assembly Replacement Hiflow Top and Side Mount Pool/Spa Multiport Valve

2. Multiport Valve Spider Gasket G-417 271148

3. Permatex 80022 Sensor-Safe Blue RTV Silicone Gasket Maker

Are these the only things I need to properly change out this valve (besides tools)? Or do I need different/additional replacement parts?

Thanks,

Daniel

Much easier to just replace the O ring on the handle stem.

Why are you replacing the spider gasket?

Replacing the top valve assembly is not going to replace the lower crack. The entire MPV needs to be cut out and replaced.

Thank you for all the input and for the link to the parts catalog from Pentair.

Answers to questions:

1. My valve's P/N is 261152, so the replacement part 270067 should work
2. I was going to replace the spider gasket since several reviews of the valve part said they replaced their spider gasket at the same time due to it not being in the best of shape. Seeing as how the spider gasket part is inexpensive, changing it out seems worthwhile.
3. I see the cracks you are talking about. I will take a closer look at the cracks in the housing when I remove the valve top and make a judgment call at that point whether to replace the entire unit or not.

Replacing the spider gasket is also a PITA. If the gasket looks good and is not leaking I would consider leaving well enough alone.
