Leak from pump filter housing/inlet pipe

So we've had a small leak from where the inlet pipe is flush against the pump filter housing unit (not sure I'm describing that correctly but added a picture for reference). It's definitely not union threads - my husband unscrewed/checked/retrightened/re-checked....
He used an exterior sealant (Dynaflex Ultra) to caulk around that area and gave it a couple of hours to dry. Restarted the pump and it's still leaking around that area. Didn't know if maybe it needs to dry longer or if there's some other type of sealant we should be using.
Any thoughts?

This area gets full filter pressure so that makes it more challenging and also, if it gets worst, probably best to consider a new filter unless you can purchase a replacement fitting or a new top. I have been successful with plumber’s epoxy putty. Bought it at Ace Hardware. It allows to be molded around the bends and connection to cover the complete area.

Also, I look at this as short term use until you can find a permanent solution with new part, etc.

I dont think my picture showed the equipment properly. The leak is from the top pipe entering the
Pentair Clean and Clear Plus unit.

Thanks Herman....if we cant take care of it, I would assume a pool plumber can without needing to purchase a new filter unit. Not sure but I see your point about the pressure in that area. Hoping it doesnt become a costly fix.

Is is coming from the connection into the top housing or is the union. If you back off the union, there is a rubber gasket. It is unusual for that area to leak once you install it unless you push on the pipe or there is vibration. You originally stated it was not the UNION thread.

So if you back off the union can you turn that fitting that is screwed into the filter body? There is an oring seal in there as well.
You may have to undo both the inlet and the outlet unions to give you some room to access the screwed connection that is leaking.

Need to replace the O ring that seals the port connection to the filter tank. Don't use any type of compound. It may hold for a while, but will make the required repair much more difficult.

Thank you for the info Herman and 1PoolMan. We will access that port/connection and take a look at the o-ring...forego the sealant. Crossing fingers that handles the issue.
