Jet Pump Not Protected

Thought my jet pump was included on the freeze protect and it is not. The water has frozen in the pump. What do I do now?

Open the lid so it can expand. Pull the drain plugs so if it melts a little it will drain.

Make sure you turn off the breaker for that pump.

You don't want it to try and start back up.

It’s pretty frozen and I didn’t want to put too much pressure. Should I use a hammer to open the lid?

Either use a scrap of 2x4 to cushion the blows or a rubber mallet.

Be careful. If you use too much force you may crack it.

Pour hot water on it, put a heat gun on it, or forget about it. You are as likely to add to the damage as save it.

Was able to open the lid. Turned off the outlet. Frozen water in the pump. Should i pour hot water in the pump?

Yes, if you can ge6t all the ice melted and drained.
