Jandy VSP making funny noises. Going bust or can be fixed?

I recently had an issue with my Polaris 280 cleaner tail tip getting sucked into the main cleaning return at the bottom of the pool, and since cleaning the system and some leaf debris, the VSP pump starting making this noise like cavitation. I immediately stopped and it and opened the suction valve more and it slowly started to fill at the filter just before the pump. After another restart, it finally began to make somewhat normal noises but has since left an unusual sound.

Here's the noise it made right at that time in this video

Here's the noises its making now

Any suggestions or thoughts?

Thanks!

What is the RPM of pump?

What is the filter pressure of the filter?

What does it sound like at full speed and what is the filter pressure at full speed?

It kind of sounds like bearings but I would like to hear it at full speed.

Is the pump sitting on dirt? If so, it may be difficult to detect seal leaks when they occur and that can cause bearings to fail prematurely.

the rpm is 1850

pressure is below 10

I do not know, as I rarely turn it up above this

No, the pump is on a concrete slab.
If you look closely at the motor, right where the mounting flange meets the casing, you will see a small ring of corrosion at that junction. That usually indicates a seal leak, which will result in damaged bearings. Sound appears to be coming from the motor area and does sound like bad bearings.

It could be that. Not sure why I am not hearing it any longer. I do know that about a year ago, I started seeing water around the pump base on the slab, but I could never figure out why as it appeared random, almost like an oversplash. With all the other components nearby, I presumed it was one of the others or maybe a not so tight connection in the bottom of the filter canister. I'll have it checked out or replaced.

Since I have a Jandy, other than I can only get Jandy from Fluidra dealers, is there any reason to go with anything else?

You can go with another brand of motor if you don't have automation on your pool. Nidec makes a nice 2.7HP variable- speed motor (Model NPTQ270) which will replace it. You also may want to open it up to be sure that something wasn't in the impeller causing the noise - it's difficult to pinpoint the cause of it from the video. If it is the bearing, a local motor repair shop should be able to fix it. Bearings on the VS motors are tough for the average home handyman to replace due to the strength of the magnets in the motor.

There are plenty of folks on here who are smarter than I am - please feel free to chime in!

The NIDEC can theoretically communicate with your AquaLink (per Nidec) but your mileage may vary (see this thread here). There aren't many (any?) other choices out there for a 2.7HP variable-speed motor replacement. I personally get nervous with the automation systems and tend to recommend staying in the same ecosystem.
