So i noticed that my pump wasn't moving the water that it usually does. Upon inspection, some debris must have gotten lodged between the diffuser and the impeller and now water flow is very low. I tried to find a replacement for my model number (PHPM1.5) but it appears they stopped making them, can't find them. The current motor is decent two speed but would like to move to a variable speed pump. I have the entire Jandy Automation so I'm trying to determine my best options for a 2HP replacement or magically a replacement part(s) to get this one working again. If I do replacement everything (pump/motor) with a new setup I would like to still be able to use my automation if possible. Let me know what you guys think. What is the going standard for reliable variable speed pump/motor combo that is easy to work on when needed.

Easy to work on and VS pump may be an oxymoron.
Jandy does not make any of their stuff easy to work on anymore for DIY.
I think @setsailsoon changed his motor out for a V-Green motor. @PoolGate may have comments about Jandy pumps. And @JamesW may have recommendations.

I would say the Pentair Intelliflo is a preferred pump by many experts. I just didn't have the $ to spend on that option for me so I went with a V-Green 1.65 as a replacement for my 1 hp Jandy 2-speed motor. The conversion was a snap. You'll have a couple of different options to control. Easiest for me was to use the digital inputs to change speed. They're very versatile. You can trigger the different speeds using any signal 12-30 vac or dc. The internal timer controls speed unless you have a digital input triggered that overrides the timer. When the digital input stops the pump reverts to the internal timer speed setting. I set my internal timer to run 24 hrs on low speed (1700 rpm in my case) and I split the solar bypass valve input signal to trigger high speed (2800 rpm). My low speed is set to be higher than the minimum speed for the flow switch on the chlorine system. I think I can reduce it even more but haven't spent much time doing this. I also trigger high speed from the gas relay on the heater. These are all 24 vac signals. You can also purchase an adapter that will tie in to your Jandy RS 485. I haven't done this but it looks pretty straightforward. There are a lot of different ways to set up automation control for a non-Jandy pump. I believe the Jandy RS automation will control the Pentair pump but I don't recall exactly how that works. The Pentair pump also has an adapter available that will convert it to use digital inputs.
