Hi all,

Heater fires for about 1 sec and then gas shuts off. Intermittently it will stay lit. After 3 or 4 attempts it says “ignition fault”. The diagnostic LED is off and not flashing any codes.

I tried cleaning the flame sensing rod but that did not help.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Barry

Welcome to TFP.

Show us pics of the inside of your heater and the flame sensing rod. The rod may need replacement.

@swamprat69 may have ideas when he wanders by.

Be sure that there is no corrosion at either end of the green wire that is attached to the main gas valve and the burner tray. That is the ground and what the flame-sense circuit needs to sense flame.
