Hi I have Aqualink PDA with a 2spd pump. My adjective is to have a JVA shut off one or both of my skimmers and just use main drain while in low speed. While in low there is little flow with all three on and I figured I would get better circulation of both heat and chlorine by doing so. This can be accomplished with one JVA. Is there a way to program one of the Aux to do this automatically? I figured out a way using a second SPDT relay piggybacking off the low volt side if it can handle two relays or just use a 220v relay off of the relays high side. Then I would just need to find a 24v power source from the board. Things would be a lot easier if it can be programmed instead. Jandy of course won’t answer a homeowner.

With a 2-speed pump I am not sure. You could do it with a variable speed pump since you can assign an AUX to a speed in the speed-setup screen. See if you can find such a screen in your PDA menu. Using the PDA is going to be a nightmare though.

Consider upgrading to an RS system. It is an easy change you can do yourself and costs around $1k.

Post pics of your setup too that will help.

Do the one touch menu items exist with the PDA interface?

If they do then it seems that you can assign the filter-pump, the pump-low speed auxiliary, and the JVA auxiliary to a one touch menu item, and then when the one touch item is scheduled (or activated) you will get what you want.

You will need to first assign one of your unused JVA’s to an unused auxiliary output, but that’s easily done.

I just don’t know if the customizable one touch menu buttons are available with the PDA interface?

Wow thanks guys for your super fast response. I really don’t want to spend another $1k for the RS if I don’t have to, being I’m pretty sure I can get to work with the extra relay. I just want to exhaust every option to just program it. Is the one touch able to run on a schedule? Because I am already using the schedule one for pump all day broken up with two low speed operations. I will attach some PDA screen shots to show the options I have to work with.

Sorry I don’t see one touch option, maybe it becomes available once JVA is installed but I don’t see it in manual. It has two hot keys but that can’t be programmed. I can program and schedule an aux but that’s only two wire I need three.AF156C7A-DA13-439D-8EBF-217149AF771B.jpeg

Ok in assign JVAs menu I have four choices intake free, return free, cleaner free and solar used ( which I don’t have) if I assign any of the first three it gives me two options just Aux 1&3 but I want to use the JVA connection not Aux. I’m confused! I can program Aux 1 or 3 which would be good but I need the third wire to have the JVA reverse.

Once the JVA is assigned to an Auxiliary then it is activated when that aux button is pressed, or added to a schedule, or added to a list of items in a schedule. The JVA gets plugged into the appropriate JVA plug; intake, return, or cleaner (which ever one you assign) and then the aux button toggles the JVA. If the Aux button is off the JVA will be in one position, if on it will go to the other position. If it's backwards from what you want just throw the toggle switch on the bottom of the JVA. There's no need to have two Aux's assigned to control a single JVA.

Thank you so much. If I got this right I assign the intake JVA to say Aux 1 then I program a schedule for Aux 1 and I’m good? So I can just mimic the schedule for the low sped pump.

Yep, that should work. The only issue is direction of the JVA valve when Aux 1 is activated, and that's easily corrected with the toggle switch on the JVA. You may want to also rename Aux 1 to something like Main Drain Only so that it's more obvious what's being controlled. I assume you can rename the Aux labels with the PDA interface, you can do that with the RS system so I would think the PDA interface would support that also.

What is on the bottom of your "equipment" option?

Also be advised your AUX ports are hardcoded to the JVA they manage. You'll need to open up the panel and see where the JVA is actually plugged into. See picture below the JVAs are plugged into the right side 3 wire connectors.

Will your pump pull off the bottom on low speed consistently. Need to find that out before going to the trouble of doing what you are asking. As the filter gets dirty it may stop moving water at low speed/main drain.

Will do guys and thank you all will try it this weekend. Yes I have tried manually pulling from the bottom. Skimmer Deep I added for Aux 3. Wish me luck will let you know how it works out.

Ok did it and it works just lost one of my Aux functions. It’s a PDA 4 so I wrongly assumed that I had 4 Aux and not 3. Was wondering why it didn’t give me the option to assign Aux 4, I guess filter pump is really Aux 1. Would have been nice if they just started with Aux 2, I guess that’s why on the the assign JVAs screen it only gave the option of Aux 1 & 3 being Aux 2 is dedicated to the two speed relay via the dip switch. So I have filter pump, Pool light Aux 1, two speed pump Aux 2 and I had a bug light on 3 which now works with JVA that I need to disconnect. I can’t remember the last time I used the bug light anyway. So if in the future I decide to upgrade to a RS8 I need one with Rev. R or higher to use via the internet and not the PDA?

You can also use the "extra aux" which is assigned to the solar heater if you have no solar heat. I used mine to control an electrical outlet for my landscape low voltage lighting.

Here’s what I found regarding extra Aux. It seem when I selected heat pump it removes extra Aux. Did I need to select heat pump? I do have one that’s why I did it, but it only acts like a regular heater it’s not capable of cooling and doesn’t communicate with only a two wire hook up. It’s a Jandy Ae-Ti 2500.
