Jaffles pool build

Here is one thing you can do for me..........................do an OCLT once a week. Overnight Chlorine Loss Test That will show both of us if anything is brewing. If your CC is over .5 then we will go from there.
pressures on, but will be good to know. See if I can get organised for tonight.

OH MY! That is a REAL pond! LOVE IT!! I bet to does sound wonderful when they get going!
sure does, or I think so. There has been the odd occasion where a call has been made "bloody wildlife...I can't hear the TV" or "hows the serenity"

ah hem.....now for the results. Quiet please.

FC 4 CC 3
FC 4 CC 0

Is that possible? I mean the FC component.
Pool smelt a bit chlorinie this morning which I thought spells trouble. Unless I have my CC level wrong in my head.

The fine print. Yesterday around 11AM I chucked 250g or stabilised chlorine in and went to work. Pool full sun on a 77 F day. Pool filtered to 5am. I got home at 6.15 PM and ran pump with no chlorination on high for 15 minutes. Yes I know 30 min, but pump turns over 550lt a minute on high so though that will do, maybe not? Pool in complete shade with about 30 minutes before the sun goes down.

I ran it again for 15 minutes at 5.AM before testing. Similar light.

got to go to work though, so catch you later.

So you made sure the water was well mixed and tested at 6:15pm and got your FC at 4.

Then in the morning you made sure it was mixed up good again and tested at 5am and again got a FC at 4

Now what catches my eye is the CC of 3 in for the evening test then CC was 0 for the morning test.

That is what has me puzzled. Can you tell us how you tested for CC step by step please.

I do like the FC being so steady at 4! Well done!

Kimkats, Yes pool ran each time before test. I felt I may have cheated adding chlorine at 11Am on the first test. So last night I did it again.

No chlorine added yesterday except for the auto douser. The pool had seen 4 teenagers swimming that day, what time and for how long I'm not sure. I'd guess around midday.

Results
FC4 CC3
FC4 CC0

I ran the pool for 30 minutes before each test and conditions are very similar in time to first test.

With my test kit the process is

1: fill test tube to specific line with pool water
2: add 1 heaped scoop of Chlorine detection powder and mix well. Scoop is a bit bigger than a match head.
3: add 1 drop of Chlorine Titrating reagent at a time, mix well each drop. Count drops and divide by 2. In my case 8 drops / 2 = 4 for FC.
4 Add 5 drops of Chlorine detection reagent liquid. If sample remains clear it = no CC or 0. This is my morning test results. If sample turns pink add 1 drop of Titrating reagent till turns clear, then divide by 2. This was my evenenting test process. 5 drop + 1 divide by 2 = 3CC

The test kit is Clear Choice Labs

Some pics at 5.30am, apologies for the not so stead hand on zoom.

Did it turn pink immediately ? If you let it sit it can go pink again several seconds later. That doesn't count and it's fooled many of us.

immediately, but just a light one at that. Haha Yes I have discovered colours change if things sit. Should have pain more attention in science I may understand it more.

Now that right there could be why the 3 cc................They may be adding a bit of extra *liquid* to the pool while in it  LOL

Dude has a solid question/idea as well!
The little Darns. You like to think not but maybe. Don't think anyone used the pool on the first test though.

I tell you what though you probably know. I read Phosphate remover is bentonite clay amongst other things. Zodiac list on the bottle as "rare earths salts". After adding it 2 times as the correct dose for the pools, I noticed the pressure in the cartridge filter went up. Plus the deck jets limp though pump speed is still the same. So I cleaned the filter before all this testing and this brown murky water washed out of the filter. In the past it has been more grey. The equaliser in it was I had cleaned the filter just a few days before I added the phosphate remover. Might take the bottle back to the shop and ask them to dispose of it, that if I go back at all.

Well this is quite a puzzle. We will keep at it until we figure it all out. With the way your water looks I am not too worried though! That is some TFP clear water right there!
