Is this “The Mark?”

Any hints on how to best get 15 lbs of stabilizer to dissolve, other than the sock-in-front-of-skimmer idea I saw in an old thread?

I’m thinking about using a 10gal bucket & hot water from the kitchen to help dissolve it in solution.

I use a hair net as a skimmer sock.

I put about a pound in one of those nets, tie it closed and place it in my skimmer. It dissolves about a pound per day. There’s no real quick way that I’m aware of to get CYA to dissolve quickly. Plus, a slow rise is better because you don’t really want to overshoot your goal.

I used to use old socks but changed to ladies knee-high stocking.. Not for me, but to add CYA..

The knee highs act as their own cord. And when I add them in front of a running return and come back 10 minutes later I can squeeze them and get massive amount of CYA to dissolve in the water. Do that a couple of times and you are done.

Using old socks took me all day, using knee-highs takes me about half an hour.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Dangle the sock in front of a return and run your pump 24/7 at a high speed.

Squeeze the sock occasionally and it will release a lot of stabilizer.

If any stabilizer ends up on the pool floor brush it around with your pool broom until it dissolves.

Just gave it a squeeze. Amazing.

I also do the knee high and squeeze trick. Still a PIA (when you have little patience, such as myself ), but gets the job done!
