Follow the non-SWCG FC/CYA chart while in SLAM Process

Do not raise your CYA.

Do not use Clorox. All Clorox bleach contains Cloromax. It is not suitable for pools. And it is only 6% sodium hypochlorite.

The Chlorine/CYA chart says at a CYA of 60 that its not recommended to SLAM

That's a misinterpretation of the chart. BETTER to SLAM at 30 CYA but please don't take your CYA to 70.....you are going the wrong way!

So, Use 60 CYA and SLAM your pool at 24 ppm. Hold it there until your pool is crystal clear, your CC's are .5 or less, and you pass the OCLT. No reason to perform the OCLT until you meet the first two criteria.

Heading to Costco to get more Clorox now...

Clorox bleach that contains Cloroxmax Technology is not suitable for pool use. Cloromax Technology contains polymers that will cause foaming in the water.

You want to use plain bleach with no additives, scents, or splashless. I like to use Pool Essentials Chlorinating Liquid - Walmart.com

Actually, you want a lower CYA to SLAM.. this is because it takes less chlorine... You can do it at 60, it just takes a lot higher FC level..

Well I overshot - it's sundown here in Phx and I'm at 32 FC 16 FC...assume higher is better than lower. We'll see in the am.

This morning I woke up and realized I didn't divide the FC number by 2 when I tested last night, so I only got to 16 PPM. This am the FC is at 14 FC, with a CC of 1.5.

I'll try again this evening and will get the FC above 24.

Ok - I way overshot my chlorine, but passed the OCLT- i had a FC of 33.5 last PM and the same at 5 AM, no CC to speak of.
