Is the Leslie's lady full of it? Recent Acid Wash and Startup Questions (Las Vegas)

I tried everything, disabled or enable on easy touch pannel, 0% on panel with disabled and enabled, no matter what I do, the SWG itself remains at 80% with solid red light low salt - off. Only way to make the SWG "react" to do something is if a long press the less button, it then goes to 40% and goes back to 80 1 minutes later....
The SWG will not “react” when in the low salt state.

Set the EasyTouch to 0% with SWG enabled and if it comes alive during a salinity check the ET will set it to 0%.

We're deeply honored that you saw enough value here to donate before you even introduced yourself. To me, that means we're doing it right. :)

We're all volunteer here but we really really like our hobby and don't want to have to start something new. So THANKS on behalf of TFP for keeping it open, and also me personally because change is bad.

It would feel wrong to me to spend money on a pool and not consider donating to this incredible resource that allows me to keep it in good shape!

Hi everyone,

I could really use your input as I try to optimize my setup with a weekly pool service.

I travel quite a bit, so I do need a service, but I plan to manage all the water chemistry myself as much as possible (testing, balancing, etc.). What I really need help with is everything else — brushing, vacuuming, general upkeep — but I’m realizing I don’t know exactly what tasks should fall into that category or how often they should be done.

Some questions I have:
  • What non-chemistry tasks should a good weekly service be doing?
  • Should they be brushing not just the walls/steps, but also the pool floor in addition to using what to me looks like a vacuum attachment with wheels at the bottom connected to the pool filtering system?
  • How frequently should they clean the cartridge filter (new cartridges were recently installed)?
  • What else am I missing?
  • What tasks should be happening on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annual basis?

Basically, I’d like to go to my service provider with an informed set of expectations and questions. If I’m handling chemistry myself, what would you expect a good pool service to still take care of — and how often?

Appreciate any advice or example checklists you’ve found helpful!

Thank you!

(my set up is in my signature)

Note the clean pressure on your cartridges. When the PSI rises 25%, then clean them again...

We recommend our members brush and vacuum. I have the Hayward triangle vacuum head with brushes and it kills two birds with one stone.

Once a week would be plenty, but if you came home after a big wind day, and between their visits, it's not their fault. :)

Welcome to TFP!

I am also on the west side of the valley. I am north of your Summerlin West location, up by 215 & Hualapai.

I can’t advise you on hiring a pool service. I can say that in the 25 years we’ve had a pool, here in Las Vegas and prior when we lived in SoCal, I was the pool man. It became so much easier managing the pool after I joined TFP and found out how stupid easy pool care could be.

This, TFP, is the place to be and the mods and expert posters are so helpful.
