Is my test kit no good?

Ok I have been filling and draining the pool, got the CYA down to 70. Gonna keep at it tomorrow, and I’ll be good on cya. For the future, should I try to use as little tabs as possible? I think the past two years We had plenty of rain, and this may have been appearing to be less of a problem. Also, I never used the shock packets, until I ran out of regular bleach last year and someone bought me a 10 pack of them. Lesson definitely learned here. Thanks again for all the advice, hopefully I’ll have better news by tomorrow evening!

A couple items to review.

In summary, use only liquid chlorine for daily maintenance. Use trichlor tablets for those times you go on vacation and are away from the pool for more than a day or two.

So my in line chlorinator should be used sparingly. If I can’t get liquid chlorine, which looks like it may happen, should I just look into a SWCG? I’ll have to get my research pants on for that journey next.

Yes, a SWG will work.
I'm going to post this again, and then I am done with this thread:
And depending on your CH level, you could possibly chlorinate with Calcium hypochlorite until the liquid bleach situation improves.
