Is 181oz of muriatic acid too much for 24' pool

I just used the pool math calculator. It recommends that I add 181 oz of the mutriatic acid! I don't have the measurements for CYA or CH on my dip strips. My TH is 250, bromine is 1, alkalinity is 220, and ph is 8ish.

This is my first pool ever. Help please

I am going to purchase the strips that will read the cya and ch. Sigh.
Realize strips are worthless. They are very inaccurate and not repeatable.
You need a proper test kit. In Canada, that is more difficult to do, and more expensive. There are a number of threads from Canadian members on how they got a proper test kit. See Test Kits Compared and Pool Test Kits - Further Reading

I come up with 64oz of 31.45% muriatic acid to lower your pH from 8 to 7.4 with a TA of 220. Those are your numbers, and if you believe the data from a test strip, that is your choice.

Do you possibly have your pool configured in PoolMath as 64,000 gallons instead of liters? That would explain the recommendation you got.

I added one kg of granular stabiliser in the skimmer this morning. I need to add mutriatic acid and shock. When can I do this?
Ps. I found out about the tip of adding sanitizer into a sock after I added it to the skimmer of course. 🙄 So ******!!!!

Today's readings are:
Fac 3
Tci 3
Alk 200 (no change)
Ph 7.8
Th 400
Cya 40

Pool calculator says I should add:
604 ml muriatic acid
88 g 73% cal-hypo

And reduce ph to 7-7.2 w acid and then aerate to increase ph.

Do u agree? Thx much!!!

I merged your threads. Your test results are from test strips. The CH and CYA changed significantly from one day to the next. Unless you added both alot of calcium and stabilizer, the strips are inaccurate. You can use them if you wish, but we will not provide chemistry guidance based on them.
