I'm dealing with water turning green from iron in the the fill water. It's been particularly dry this year, so we've been using our well water to keep the pool level maintained, as opposed to Nature's refills from rain. Our well water has more iron than in years past, thanks to changes in the water table. We've been using a household cartridge water filter inline with the fill hose to reduce the iron, and it helps, but not entirely. It's supposed to continue to be very hot and dry over the next week and a half or two, so I anticipate needing to top off the water more in the coming days.

Should I expect that our cartridge filter will help remove some of the iron, and then we can clean the filters with... I guess more well water? we could take hose them off generally outside, and then take them inside for additional rinsing with softened water.

We had our water turn super green one year immediately after adding well water, and I think the cartridge filter did most of the clearing work.

I know I could use sequestrants, but not sure if it's better to wait and see how the filter manages the iron, or get on it right away.

If there anything I should use when cleaning the filter cartridges that will help remove the iron more efficiently?
