Intermatic timer T104p

Hello Poolsters, my pump is not running. I am getting 120 V from the source, but when I turn on the pump manually from the timer, the pump does not run and I get 70 V on the leads that go to directly to the pump. Also, I don’t think this matters in this case, but the timer gears are not turning so the internal motor is a dead I presume.

It seems like something is wrong with the timer other than just the internal motor being dead unless getting 70 V is normal.
To check the pump motor, I would like to bypass the timer, but I’m not completely confident which wires to connect to one another. Using the yellow numbers in the photo, 1, 2, 3, 4, which wires should I connect to bypass the timer?
All advice appreciated!IMG_1164.jpeg

Welcome to TFP.

Your pump and timer are wired for 240V.

If you don't have 240V between the LINE screws 1 & 3 then you lost a hot leg.

Check your circuit breaker and reset it or replace the CB.

Is your CB GFCI as current codes require for pool pump CBs?

Thanks for your response, Allen. Just to confirm, here’s a shot of my breakers by the pool equipment. Does two breakers = 240 (120 each)? The water fall pump works fine, just not the pool filter pump. The 2nd and 3rd breaker from the bottom feed the timer for the pool filter pump

Update. I jiggled the 2 breakers in the subpanel and then tried the manual on and the pump ran. I heard it stutter and immediately turned it off. I’ll replace the breakers. Your info that it was using 240 is what led me to figuring it out. Thanks a million!

Note: It is highly likely that your bus bars are burned and you might need to replace the breaker box or the bus bars.

What is the model number of the breaker box panel?

Pull the breaker before getting a new one to see if the bars are burned.

Make sure to kill all power and verify that there is no power before working on the breakers.
