Intermatic Mechanical Time Switch - How do I abandon?

Time switch on the left
  • Controls my pump
  • The motor died on me (gears are no longer moving)
Time switch on the right
  • Originally controlled my Polaris booster pump however the booster pump was abandoned last year
  • The motor is still running
I would like to move the working switch on the right to my pump on the left, how should I handle the live wires on the right? Should I connect the non-working motor - perhaps blocking capped off wires?

I am not an electrician; however I am great at following directions :)

If you noticed that this time does not match my signature ... my signature = home pool, this time belongs to my rental property.

Your DON'T handle live wires, turn the breaker off. If the clock on the right is still working, take a picture of the system as is. Remove all the wires from their various terminals. The wiring for the left clock is the key.
You will likely have wires running from terminals 2 & 4 on the left going to 1 & 3 on the right. Remove and toss those.
You may also have wires from the right hooked to the small white wires that power the clock motor, or the white wires from the right are on terminals 1 & 3 on the right. They need to be attached to 1 & 3 on the mechanism being used. If the wire end is removed, just wrap it around the screw terminal.
There is a small tab at the top of the mechanism, push it up and pull each mechanism out. Toss the bad one after saving the trippers.
Put the one from the right into the area on the left. You don't really have to move it, but the wires may not reach.
Hook the wires up as in to it as in the picture you took. Power on the breaker, set the time, set the trippers, and you should be good.
