What's the general consensus on setting the pump schedule? I run it 24/7 but I forgot how it was set up last year and it lost its memory when I disconnected it for the winter.
I just set it to run 70 gpm for the day light hours and 30 gpm for the night time. No clue if that's correct.

I would set it up at the lowest RPM that will still satisfy the SWG flow rate. Probably around 20-30 GPM. You don't need to run at higher RPM/GPM that what is required by the SWG and skimmers. It would be a waste of energy.

77,

You should run your pump for a reason...

What reason do you have to run at 70 GPM???

As noted above, running faster than what is required to close the SWCG's flow switch is not necessary in most cases.

Normally you run a pump to...

1. Makes Chlorine
2. Skim the pool
3. Run a water feature
4. Run a spa
5. Turn on a heater

I personally love to run my pump 24/7, as I am making chlorine all the time and skimming all the time. I run most of the time at 1200 RPM, so my cost to run 24/7 is less than $20 bucks a month and I have an older pump.

Thanks,

Jim R.
