I have a feature pump (bubbler) where the display goes off in servce mode and I can't control it thru the app anymore (turn it on or off). I can turn on the bubbler pump at the
EasyTouch® 8 and 4 Pool and Spa Control System panel by pressing the bubbler feature button on the panel. When I do that, the bubbler pump display panel comes on in automation mode. Only way to turn it off is by depressing the bubbler feature button on the panel.

M,

Does your feature pump have an RS-485 cable going from the pump's control head back to the EasyTouch?

Have you made an recent changes to pump types or speeds in the EasyTouch?

Thanks,

Jim R.

yes, the feature pump has an RS-485 cable going back to the EasyTouch control panel. It is in parallel with the filter pump RS-485 cable.

yes, I have been adjusting the rpms on the feature pump and the filter pump thru the app. No changes to pump types that I knowing did - don't see that on the app

thanks

M,

I suspect that you have lost your RS-485 control for that pump..

Things to check using the little LCD on the EasyTouch panel.

1. Makes sure the pump type is set to VSF
2. Make sure there is an actual pump speed assigned to that pump for your bubbler circuit. Since you have two pumps, you have two different pages for pump speeds.. One for your main pump and one for your 2nd pump.
3. Makes sure you check #1 and #2 even if you think they are ok..
4. While in AUTO, (Not Service mode), Push the aux button for your feature pump and then go look at the pump's display and see if it says "Display Not Active"...

Please let me know what you find..

Normally, VS pump are connected to constant AC power when the control of the pump is an RS-485 cable... This is not your whole problem, but it just adds to the confusion when the pump is controlled by an aux relay.

Thanks,

Jim R.

1. Both pumps are set to VS, pump 1 is the filter pump, pump 2 is the feature (bubbler) pump
2. Pump 1 speeds, spa 2100, pool 2000 (I have about a 11500 gallon pool)
Pump 2 speed, bubbler 1000
4. While in auto mode, Pressing Bubbler (AUX1) button on the EasyTouch panel, bubbler is on and working and get "Display not Active" on the pump display. When I turn off the bubbler pump, I get an "ALARM! Power out/off, F90052"on the display for about a minute, then it goes blank

thanks again for your help

Metal,

In your original post you said you could not turn on the bubbler from the app..

Wiring your pump to the wrong side of the Aux relay should not cause that issue, but I agree with JamesW..

The first thing you need to do is find the Aux1 relay that controls the bubbler pump.. Your pump appears to be wired to the Load side of the relay (Pins 2 and 4) You need to move the wires from the load side, over to the Line side (Pins 1 and 3).. This will provide constant AC power to the pump.. The pump will still be controlled by the RS-485 cable..

The reason you get the Alarm is because you are basically taking the power away from the pump when you turn off Aux1.. This is also why you have no display when Aux1 is off..

Let's see if that solves your issue or if you still can't control the pump from your app.

Thanks,

Jim R.

The pump has been wired like this since I first got the pool 7 years ago. Now it doesn't work(?)

I was able to control the bubbler thru the app (for 7 years), now I can't. I can turn the bubbler on/off thru the EasyTouch front panel AUX (BUBBLER) button.

I'll open the panel and see how its wired.

thanks

M,

It does not matter how long it has been wired wrong...

I would suspect that your main pump is wired wrong also..

The only reason we want to wire the bubbler pump correctly is so that we can work on your app issue, without getting confused..

It will not hurt anything to have the pump wired correctly.. And it will provide power to the pump when in the Service mode, like it should.

I do not think this will fix your app issue, but it is the first step in getting there.

Thanks,

Jim R.

OK, the bubbler pump is wired from the load side of the relay. But got the problem fixed (or more appropriately, it went away). When this problem surfaced initially, I turned off/on the breaker to the control panel on the EasyTouch panel in addition to all the other breakers on that panel. This time I turned off the breaker to the pool equipment at the house service panel before I took the EasyTouch front panel off. When I powered everything up again, I was able to control the bubbler pump thru the app. Not sure why its now working (other than it got "hungup" somehow) and why it took turning off/on the service breaker to get it going again.

I am a little hesitant to change the wiring to the bubbler pump to the line side. I can turn the bubbler pump on/off thru one of the AUX buttons on the EasyTouch front panel and I am thinking that the way they set this up is that they needed to use that relay to do that. I am headed back north in a couple of weeks and don't want to change the wiring now to see if that is the case.

For the first 5 years I have had this pool (the only one I have ever owned), I relied on someone else to clean it and fix it. So I never did have to figure that out for myself. That got old and frustrating and now I am doing that myself (except when I am up north). Your help on this problem has furthered my understanding of my pool and how it works. Thanks Jim R and JamesW!
