Intelliflow VS - impeller issue or air leak

Just put everything together on my Intelliflo VS pump.

Started priming process by letting the hose put water in the basket for 5 mins.
Closed the lid and started the pump.

Now motor seems running, but basket is not even getting empty and water not moving at all, forget priming.

Is this an impeller issue ?

Turn the pump off.
Turn off the BREAKER to the pump...no power near the pump.

See if moving the impeller turns the motor.

Tried moving the impeller it doesn’t move

The tip of my fingers barely touch the impeller but couldn’t move it. Not sure how loose it should be in either direction.

Is there a way to move it without opening the machine ?

Thanks in advance

Back side of the pump motor should have a hole in the center of the cover. In that hole should be a hex head. Find the right size hex wrench and see if you can turn the motor.

POWER OFF.
Take the fan shroud off the motor. You can turn the motor at the end.
For those looking at this thread ever it’s 3/32 Allen wrench

it moved in both directions

started the machine after making one turn in each direction. But no water movement at all.

The motor seems to run ok. But I shut if off quickly to ensure there is no damage.

Any thoughts ?

Is there a valve upstream/downstream perhaps holding back flow ?
There is one for drain and one for skimmer. Both are open . More importantly the water in the machine doesn’t move at all. Even the basket doesn’t get empty.

If the basket went empty and there was no water I would have looked for blockages.

Hope that helps

I have seen one motor shaft failure on an Intelliflo in the recent months.
thanks. Does that mean if the shaft has failed, i would need a new shaft or a new impeller. I hope its the latter.

i still dont know why it would fail. when i closed the pool, the pump was running no issues and we made sure the water is taken out of both the chambers

Pull it apart. See what the issue is.
