Intelliflo3 relay not working

Hello. New pool finished a couple months ago. Now that it's been 60 days added salt to the pool and tried to fire up the Intellichlor which is connected via the relay board on the pump. When I enable the relay on the app and save I can hear the relay click but no power to the intellichlor power center. Multimeter reads 0. I thought the relay card was bad so I bought a replacement and still same result. The salt system works when I connect the power directly to the L1/L2 on the pump. Not sure how to proceed. Thanks

Ke,

The relay does not get any AC power from the pump..

The relay needs to have 220 volts in, so that it can send the 220 volts out to the salt cell power center.

Please show us a pic of how the relay is wired..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Hey Jim thanks for the reply. Attached is the insert from the relay card. I was under the impression the 220 ac was coming through the card from the pin connections in the pump and then was distributed out to the controlled equipment through the labeled connections. Are you saying that isn't the case? If so please specify what wires need to go where. Thank you

Ke,

The relays have 4 pins.. You have to connect the supply (input) voltage to pins 1 and 3. Then you have to connect the Device (Output) pins 2 and 4 to your SWCG's Power Center..

You can just make a jumper from the AC power that runs the pump, or you can run a whole new cable for the relay(s).

Thanks,

Bravo Jim. Success. We are producing chlorine. Any suggestions on length of run time. Right now I have my pump at 40% 24/7. Is it better to have the chlorinator run 24/7 at its lowest setting or shorter period of time at higher setting? Also open to suggestions on pump run times and percentages. Thank you

Ke,

I like to run my pump 24/7, at the lowest speed (%) that keeps the flow switch closed.. Pump speed has nothing to do with the amount of chorine the cell will produce, once the flow switch is closed. I like to make a little chlorine all the time and I like to skim all the time. To run 24/7 costs me way less than $20 bucks a month.

You set the output of the cell based on your FC measurements.. There is no magic here... If your FC is low, then your SWCG output needs to be turned up. If your FC is too high, then you have to turn your SWCG output down..

If you try to do this on a daily basis it will just drive your carzy.. I run my FC at my Target or higher.. I never care if my FC is high (within reason).. I NEVER try to keep my FC between the minimum and my target.. That will just get you an algae bloom.. At your target or higher works best for me..

Just in case you do not know.. See this chart for the proper FC based on your CYA level... FC/CYA Levels

Thanks,

Jim R.
