Good morning! It’s been almost a year since last post. Jim, Marty and others were very instrumental in my successful salt conversion- shout out to them! Can’t believe the difference. It was relatively low maintenance with in line tab chlorinator but too many fluctuations. Way less maintenance now and beautiful water all the time! Now on to next project- simple switch to variable speed pump. Main driver is looking to reduce energy consumption but don’t want to mess up the chlorine generation with wacky schedules nor want to lose my arm spending $3000 if other cheaper 3 speed models work fine as long as they can integrate with EasyTouch PSL4. Suggestions welcome!

I have the Pentair VSF (model 011056). It is wonderful. It will connect to your ET with RS485 cable.
Just ensure you hook it up the electrical power to constant power which is the Line side of your Pump Relay. If you have a single speed pump now it is most likely connected to the Load side of the relay. It is easy to move the wires over to the Line side when you install the VS pump.

Pentair also makes a new model VS pump - so you can check their website.

VS pumps are ideal with SWCGs as you can run at much lower pump speeds thus saving money and also still produce chlorine.
Also check for rebates from your electric company. If memory serves me well, I got $300 rebate from my electric company plus a $150 gift card from the Pool Store where I purchased it. I think I paid less than $2000 for pump & installation but that was a year ago or so.
Supply availability may be your biggest challenge. Since you live in FL check out Pinch A Penny pool store as they run sales - in fact in Texas they have one now through 8/7. It shows a savings of $575 for the Pentair VSF (which I purchased) as combined savings for energy rebate and in-store credit.

A,

Since you have an EasyTouch, you want to buy a Pentair pump that has a RS-485 com port.

The gold standard of pool pumps is the is the old 3 HP IntelliFlo VS or VSF pump. the bigger the pump the more water it can move a low RPMs and the quieter the pump will be.

Pentair has recently come out with several newer pumps that I have no experience with, but that look promising. One of the problems is the HP rating have recently changed so it is harder to compare apples to apples.

You might want to look at the IntelliFlo3 VSF 011075 or 011076. Or the SuperFlo VST 342002

I buy from this place, but I also use their site as a good reference. Pentair

Thanks,

Jim R.
