Intelliflo vs losing pressure

I've noticed working the last week that my returns have had less pressure. I'm running a 2250 rpm manual process right now with all the pollen. If I stop the pump and restart it the pressure is good again after the priming cycle. An hour or so later the pressure has dropped again. It doesn't appear to be getting air as the basket is still full of water. Any thoughts? Air leak even though there isn't any air? It is almost like it's cavitating but I don't see any bubbles

What is your filter pressure versus your clean filter pressure.

I suspect your filter is plugging with algae. Can you post a full set of test results?

it's less than 10 psi. It's not algae as I have had solid chlorine at 3ppm via talor drop since opening 13 days ago. We have had a ton of pollen which could be impacting but it flows fine if I hit the egg timer and then back down to the manual

S,

There is nothing wrong with your pump, as Marty points out the problem is your filter is dirty.. I too suspect that you have algae, even if you can't see it.. Backwash your filter and see what happens.. If it works for a day or say and slows down again, that is a key sign you have algae..

If your water is cloudy or green.. Then there is no doubt that you have algae..

You might want to take a peak at our Pool School and this link... ABCs of Pool Water Chemistry

Thanks,

Jim R.
