I connected up my Intellichlor just to get ready when we have salt in a couple weeks. Since then I've received several alerts about communications being lost. I quickly realized it's happening when the pump is off, which I guess makes sense since the SWG is attached to the load side of the pump relay per the manual. So do others just turn off this alert if you don't run the pump 24/7?

You can turn it off. I run my pump 24/7 and still got the comm errors. And I had the email alerts set up and was getting hundreds of emails. I finally made a rule that filed them all in a Pentair folder. I don't ever look at them. Would be nice if they were not so annoying and actually useful. Kinda like crying wolf. I don't pay attention anymore.
