Hi,

We have a new build with 3 Intellibright lights, one in the spa 2 in the pool, controlled by the Pentair Easy Touch controller. I use the app to control things. I can turn on just the pool lights, or just the spa light and that works fine. The weird part is, if I have one on and one off, then change the color of the one that is on, the other light comes on. This cannot be how it should work, right? The lights should be independently controlable. Pool builder has come out, but they don't know what is going on. Maybe it is a bad board? Should they be replacing things? Anyone have this issue before? (Note, this is a new installation, it has been like this since day 1)

Gas,

How many light transformers do you have?

The system is designed (I use that term lightly) so that the relays in the EasyTouch control the AC power going into the light transformers.

Some pool builders power the light transformer and then run the low voltage back to the EasyTouch relays to control. This is wrong.

What do you have?

Thanks,

Jim R.

I’m going to open the panel and see how this was wired up once I get home. PB said they think the controller board is faulty, 50/50 chance it’s wired wrong.

(I told my wife I was going to let the PB deal with this, but I can’t help myself)

Well, took a bit but I opened it up. It looks to me that there are 2 relays on the easy touch, one spa light, one pool. These look to be switching the line voltage from the GFCI. But there is no transformer. There is a connection box, looks to me to take the power from the relays and send it to the intellilights. Are there 120VAC versions of these lights? If not, I don’t know where the transformer is hidden.

I cannot see anything that looks obviously wrong, other than maybe a bit of extra wire in the splice box.

Gas,

They do make 120 volt LED lights. If you have no external transformer boxes, then I suspect that is what you have.

I don't see anything obvious.

You can turn on just the spa light or just the pool lights and that works ok. Tell me what happens when you turn on the pool lights and then tell them to change color. Only the pool light should turn on and change color. Do all three lights turn on and change to the same color or what?

Thanks,

Jim R.

It’s like you say. I can turn in or off either light, when both on, I can switch the color in both and do the light shows.

But, if I turn one on and have one off, then change color from red to blue say, the off one immediately turns on (same color as the other one, red in this case) then they both turn off and it does the clicking of the relay to set the color. Then they both come on with the new color. I have one on and change colors without the other light turning on too.

I suspect it is the panel…

Well, now I heard back from the PB. They said that Pentair rep tells them there is nothing wrong. But it just seems bad. Can someone here confirm this is how the Easy Touch with 120V LED to spa and pool is suposed to work?

1) Turn on just the spa light, pool light is off.
2) Change color
3) Pool light comes on briefly, then both pool and spa lights go off
4) Spa and pool lights both come on with new color

It seems like they should be independent in terms of on/off.

I just had a look at the Lights section of the ET manual (pages 18-22). There are tons of Intellibrite settings which are explained only in the alien language Pentarian. Have you read through all of that and understand it, @gastrek ? There might be a setting which is causing this behavior.

The Touch controllers (all of them) only have one IntelliBrite engine. It will activate all lights that are defined with a circuit function IntelliBrite, Magicstream, or Globrite Color whenever you change a theme or any of the SAm modes. IntelliCenter changed this behavior and you can now individually control the theme and sync the groups.
