Installing a new Pentair 011028 IntelliFlo VS Pool Pump

Good Morning Everyone!
This site and the members have taught me so much and have saved me a ton of money, thank you!

I have a question regarding a new pump install to existing plumbing. My suction lines are 1.5 in PVC the pump I purchased is a Pentair 011028 which has 2inch pump connections. My question is should I run 2in pvc from the Pump to the suction lines then use a reducer to mate the 2in to 1.5. Or just run 1.5 to the pump with a 2in to 1.5 threaded slip collar. Or does it matter? Thank you everyone in advance.

Welcome to the forum!
Be sure you use Pump Unions on your pump. They must be purchased separately.
Then just reduce to your 1.5in wherever it is easiest.
I suggest you read ABC's of Pool Water Chemistry.

Something like this should work:

Pump Reducer Unions 2-Pack - 2"FBT x 1.5"SS

Spa Pump Reducer Unions - 2" Female Buttress Threads - FBT X 1.5" Slip or 2" Spigot - Includes Orings. Set of 2.

Eliminates the additional reducer also.

You need Pump Unions like these.. Amazon.com: 2 PACK -CMP Hi-Temp Union 2" inch 2MIP x 2" inch PVC Whisperflo & Intelliflo - 2 PACK: Garden & Outdoor

The IntelliFlo does not have external threads.. The great thing about these unions is that they have an o-ring on the threaded end that attaches to the pump. This o-ring prevents the leaks that you often see at the input and output of pumps.. You will still need to get an adapter at a big box store to reduce to 1.5"
