infinity pool overflow pump

guys, what pump is the best for the relatively small infinity pool (25x15 feet)? currently I have 3/4 HP Hayward Super Pump but I am thinking of maybe using variable speed one to make the water flowing slowly over the negative edge. I am planning to run this pump at least for a day time or maybe 24/7. And I believe this is even better for the exposed wall to be 'covered' by the flowing water all the time (less heating and cooling, etc)
The only thing is it is a bit of overkill to put expensive VS pump just to run it on the slowest speed without any programming.
The other pool pump that circulates the water thru the filter is 2 HP and so far I don't want to change it (although it would be good to have VS I guess)
thanks

Why not put a valve to throttle the water flow from your single speed pump? That is a lot less expensive way of adjusting the flow then getting a VS pump.

Connect the suction to the main pump suction manifold so that you can use the main pump to pull water from the trough.

You can adjust the flow by adjusting the suction valves.

I would replace the single speed main pump with a variable speed pump.

You would need to use a check valve on the suction line.
