So I purchased a home with a neglected pool that I have been determined to revive. Once i had new electric run to the equipment pad everything was up and running well and I began clearing debris and following SLAM protocol. The equipment all appears fairly old and the plumbing is set up quite poorly with a combination of hoses, pvc and flex pvc. Ill attatch photos of the monstrosity.
However, at some point my pump started pushing/pulling water in an inconsistent manner, never appearing to fully prime or fully filling the pump basket. I have large bubbles in my return jet and the filter PSI rises to about 5 psi before dropping to 0.
I cant recall when exactly this happened, but i am thinking it was after I had started blindly vacuuming the deepend to waste. Problems exist regardless of multiport setting-filter/backwash/recirculate
I am wondering if the way the flex pvc and hoses are routed on the suction side are allowing for an air lock as the appear to travel up and down before reaching the pump that sits below the pool level.
So far I have tried too identify air leaks at the fittings on the suction side with soapy water, shaving cream, smoke, and running water with no smoking gun. I have also tried using a drain bladder to force and partial clogs in the suction line back towards the skimmer again with no obvious resolution. I inspected lid and lid gasket and relubed the gasket. What do I do next? start trenching to look for underground leaks? No obvious water loss has been observed but i haven't done a full bucket test.
