i m having real issues finding liquid pool chlorine and assume it will only get worse as the season progresses .
is it safe to use trichlor occasionally as an alternative to my liquid chlorine ?

As a safer option you may want to look into cal-hypo assuming your CH level is low. It’s a lot more forgiving, especially in areas that gets a fair amount of rain.

Have you looked for regular bleach on the washing aisles of stores? Just don't use Clorox because it now comes with extra additives that you don't want in your pool. Nothing with scents either. Just plain old bleach. It's usually around 6%, so you'll have to use more to get the same effectiveness, but you may be able to find some.
