Hi. Do I consider this a bad display and exercise warranty? It’s hard to tell from pic, it basically the output level indicator and generation indicator are not legible. I’ve tried taking apart, unplugging, etc.

Thanks! D673C89B-3790-4617-9CB3-C74E7ED6D414.jpeg

How old is your iChlor?

Make a warranty claim with Pentair. Those units have had their issues.

E,

For sure that is not an IC40... It is an iChlor 15 or 30.

You'll get better answers is you edit your title.

Thanks,

Jim R.
thanks for this. you're right. i had both manuals (iCHLOR and IC) and somehow assumed mine was an IC40. it's an iCHLOR30 per the picture and the invoice.

Not backwards. Almost looks like it’s missing LED segments or the display is just displaying garbled characters. Here’s a different view View attachment 449903
I see. Looks like a bunch of y's to me. Seems like your display has gone bad.
Reason I asked if it looked upside down is that you can actually invert the characters depending on installation.
They have a 3-year warranty.

I think it's shot. Company that installed it is providing a replacement cell. Side note 1 - while they will provide a replacement, they also wanted $350 for installation. So I'm taking my chances and installing myself when it arrives. Side note 2 - should the power center be bounded to the rest of the pool equipment? the internal ground lug is grounded, but the external ground lug is not connected to the bonding wire like the pump is.

Yes. The SWG Power Center should be connected to the bonding wire.

You can replace it pretty easily. Just need a strap wrench or giant channel locks to loosen the nuts. I'd make sure the power is off before taking the connector off. Also see about sending in warranty card yourself. Could be you can start the warranty again, and bypass the local company.
My power center was never connected to the bonding wire either, but I connected it to the wire by the pump too. HD had the wire.

Good idea on the warranty card. This way if it happens again, I go straight to Pentair.
