IC60 Pentair SWG (Turned off and on by itself, basically rebooted)

Good Afternoon,

My IC60 Pentair is only a few months old at this point in time. Last night when I was out by my pool pump, I noticed it turned off then back on all by itself. Not sure if this is a sign of something going bad or what. The unit replaced an IC40 that finally went bad after 7 years of service and to my knowledge it never did this. I have not witnessed the IC60 do this again since last night; however, it does concern me a little bit. Has anyone experienced this? Did I cause myself a problem with not staying with an IC40? I read some people had to mess with the EasyTouch panel main circuit board or something. I plan to keep and eye on it and hope it never happens again but wanted to put this out there in case someone has some words of wisdom.

Thanks,

Greg

Hi Greg,
This pool stuff is all new to me but I wonder if this is what you witnessed:

Salt Sensor: Two (2) salt sensor probes in the IntelliChlor SCG are activated each time the IntelliChlor SCG is switched on and again during every 12 hours of operation. At each of those times, the salt level LED indicator lights flash in a scrolling sequence for two (2) minutes to indicate that the IntelliChlor SCG is in analysis mode. After two (2) minutes, the LED indicators lights will signal one (1) of three (3) salinity ranges. For more information, see “Salt Level Status LEDs” on page 7.

If all the lights went out together then came on and went through the boot cycle, then it you lost power. Jiggle the connection at the control box and see if it happens again. May be loose. Or it could have been an electric flicker or momentary brownout. Common this time of year with everybodys AC blowing. If just the cell light went out and came back on than that is normal due to the percentage you set. For example, 20% is on 20% and off 80% of the time.

Greg,

When it came back on, did the red and green salt flash for a couple of minutes or did it just come back on?

Jim,

The red and green lights flashed like it normally does when you turn off power and then turn it back on. Once it read the salt level was high enough the green light stayed on.

It seemed like all of them went off together and then all came back on with the green and red lights flashing until salt level was detected.

Newdude,

I am hoping it was just an electrical flicker or something but my pump didn't stop or anything. It was all lights not just the cell light.

The system does the diagnostic cycle (red/green lights flashing) every 12 hours or at time of being powered on. Had the unit been on for 12 hours?

If it did that, it either lost power or something is wrong with the cell...

Seems to me I remember something about the IC60 causing the SWCG power supply to shut down or reset.. I'll have to do a little research as I don't remember the fix now.

Edit... as has been pointed out this also will happen every 12 hours...

Jim,

It was extremely odd... Thanks for the help, i appreciate it. I plan to keep a close eye on it to see if it happens again. Let me know if you find something out.
