IC40 communication lost

The unit is working great, and I can definitely see that it’s producing chlorine. I installed it last season, and since then, I’ve been getting this error message on Screen Logic: communication lost. It seems like there might be a problem with my wiring. The booster pump wires are no longer needed. Can I just remove those two wires and connect the chlorinator to that relay? Any guidance will be highly appreciated.

2,

It is not a suggestion, it is a REQUIREMENT that the Cell's power supply be wired to the load side of the pump/filter relay..

It is not clear by your pic where the Pump/Filter is located.. It should be the relay in the upper left of the cabinet, but idiot installers often have their own ideas...

Follow the wires that plug into the Pump/Filter connection on the main card back and see what relay they go to, just to make sure..

Thanks,

Jim R.

the chlorinator is connected to the first relay. The second relay is where the pump is connected.

I marked the photo with labels showing where the wires connect

2,

Do you have a single speed pump??? If you have a VS pump is should not be powered by a relay.

My point is that you can't tell for sure which relay is which without following the little wires back from the main circuit card to the relay, to know for sure..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Your IntelliFlo pump has continuous power.

You need to move the IntelliChlor power from the J9 relay to the J8 relay.

Your heater should also be moved to J8 or connected to continuous power.

Right now you have nothing attached to the J8 LOAD side screws.

Before I attempt to rewrite I’m making sure I am not going to screw up something. Am I reading it right that that for some reason my installer switched J8 and J9. When he installed the Intelliflo VS pump. The IF VS pump is connected to the second relay from the top right, which now is connected to J8. So to ensure that the chlorine generator only runs when the pump runs, I need to move the two IC power Center wires to The load side of the same relay as the pump.
Thank you all for the guidance!

We are relying on you being correct that the second relay is connected to J8.

If you are correct then the instructions above are correct.
