IC 40 - No salt lights?

I have a IC40 SWG and the salt lights are all off. Flow and Cell lights are green. Water Temp is 72 (in Hawaii). Had water tested and salt is at 3000ppm. When system powers on red salt lights blink, but don't stay on. Cleaned cells too and it had no change. Any suggestions?

h,

Welcome to TFP... A great resource for all your sad, sad, 72 degree equipment questions... :shark:

When you say "All" the salt light are out, are you talking about the two salt lights (The Green Good salt light and the Red low salt light)? Or are you talking about the row of Sanitizer Output lights?

On my system, when it first starts up, both the Red and Green salt light blink back and forth for about 5 minutes while the system is going through its calibration routine. If both lights don't blink on start up, then I would assume a cell failure.

If you are talking about the Sanitizer output lights... then what happens when you push the more button???

As Zea points out, it would be important to know how old the cell is...

Also.. is this a stand alone SWCG or is it connected to an automation system? If yes, do you have ScreenLogic?

Thanks for posting,

Jim R.

Had something similar happen to me on my 1st IC40 about 10 years ago. Pentair replaced the cell under warranty, but I was still not happy that it lasted less than two years.

Do you have an Easy-Touch or Intellitouch controller? If so, have you checked the diagnostics? If the salt level reading is significantly less than the 3000 ppm from your testing, then it's very possible that it's the flow sensor. I just replaced the sensor on my current unit because it was indicating very low salt (2250ppm). After the replacement, the reading is now 4000 ppm.

If you can get the cell replaced, that would definitely be best. If so, ask the service guy if you can keep the old cell. If the old sensor is still any good, it might make for a good temporary replacement part somewhere down the line. If you wind up having to buy a new cell, try to keep the old one on-hand. Never know if it might come in handy.

No I don't have an Easy-Touch or Intellitouch controller? My Salt is at 3000 - the Pentair customer service rep recommended added more Salt - I added 80 lbs and no change. I have a service rep coming out to check it out. Well see what they say.
