Hi!

I've got an RS8 and a Jandy ePump. When the pool man comes to service the pool, he puts the device in service mode, which causes the filter pump to briefly shut off and then start again at its normal operating speed. Sometimes he wants to run it at high speed to use the vacuum, so he presses Aux7 which is configured to High Speed, but the pump does not change speed. For what it's worth, toggling Aux7 via the app does change the speed; it's just the physical button that doesn't seem to work. Is there a configuration that I'm missing? Thanks!

Welcome to TFP.

In SERVICE mode the pump does not respond to commands from the panel.

If he wants to run the pool at AUX 7 speed he should set the panel to AUTO.

The system may be getting confused as you have a speed label called “high speed” and an aux name also called “high speed”

Those are two different items and naming them the same may cause the speed and aux assignment functions to not work correctly.

Speed 4 is by default the spillover speed and is hard coded to the spillover function unless you have the spillover function disabled via the DIP switch settings.

You may just be able to delete the auxiliary assignment on the speed label called high speed. Then it might associate Aux7 with the speed name “high speed”.

If that doesn’t work, then I would try and rename Aux7 to something that doesn’t exactly match a speed label, and then do what you are doing now, and put that name in the Assign to Aux for the “High Speed” speed label.

Edit: It sounds like Allen has the answer, ignore what I said.

Thanks. My panel doesn't behave the way Allen described:

In AUTO mode, the panel does not respond to any of the buttons.
In SERVICE mode, the panel does respond to the buttons (I'm able to turn on other pumps using these buttons, just not set it to high speed mode).

Mark, I didn't know about those speed 4 details. I will try that!

Unfortunately it didn’t work. I tried these scenarios:

1. Removing assign to aux from the VSP setup. In this scenario neither the aux from the app nor the physical button worked.
2. Adding a speed 7 named “Full Speed” and assigning an aux named “HI SPEED”. In this scenario, the aux from the app worked but the physical button didn’t work.

Any other ideas?

I think the issue is that the buttons on the front panel only work in Service mode. But as Allen said the pump does not respond to speed commands in service mode. You only get on or off, which is the Pool speed.
