iAqualink not showing pool temp when other pump speeds selected.

There’s a device called “filter pump” which runs at 2800 rpm and I’ve got devices defined called “2000 rpm” and “3450 rpm”. App won’t show pool temp unless “filter pump” is running. Is there a way to change that?

What do you want to change?

Your filter pump needs to be running and water circulating to get a water temperature reading.

If filter pump is set to 2800 rpm then it will never run lower. Any speed override the highest speed wins. So 2000 will not lower the speed from 2800.

You should set filter pump to 2000 and then have settings of 2800 and 3450 rpm to raise the filter pump speed. Although 3450 rpm is very fast and there is usually not a need for that speed.

I want to be able to see the pool temp in the app whether the pump is running at 2000, 2800, 3450 or any other speed. Problem is that it says something like “pump not running” if I have any other pump device selected besides the one called “filter pump” even though the pump is definitely running.

What other pump devices do you have on your pool?

Your filter pump will need to be running when you want to see the pool temp. No way around that.

Show us pics of your equipment pad.

There’s only one pump. When I say “device” I mean in the app. There’s one “device” which is called “filter pump” which runs at 2800. I created other “devices” in the iAqualink to run the pump at other speeds. Pool temp only appears when the “device” called “filter pump” is active. This is not really a pump question, it’s an iAqualink question.

The filter pump selection in iAqualink turns the pump physically ON or OFF. That is the only control that controls ON or OFF.

All the other "devices" you created in iAqualink change the speed of the filter pump UP from its initial speed. Those other "devices" will not turn the physical pump ON or OFF.

So if you want a filter pump speed other then its default speed it takes two button pushes - first turn the filter pump on and then select the speed. Once the filter pump is running you can then select other speeds.

Let me put it another way… all these different “devices” in iAqualink will run the pump, at whatever speed they have defined. But, only the “device” called “filter pump” will allow the pool temp to appear in the app. I may not have things set up right, I don’t know.

Thanks!! I will investigate that.

They only run the pump if the pump was turned ON by the filter pump button.

It has nothing to do with your Aqualink setup.

Pool temp is displayed when the filter pump is running and water is circulating.

Water is circulating only when filter pump is ON.

Ok, but the problem is that I have one of these other devices in the schedule so the pump runs slower at night. So after that “device” becomes active, the pool temp goes away.

You need to change your thinking to the way the Aqualink works. You are not going to bend the Aqualink to your will.

Schedule the filter pump at the same time you schedule the other "device". You can have multiple schedules running at the same time.

The Aqualink will NOT run the filter pump slower then its default speed.

You need to set the filter pump to the lowest speed you ever want it to run.

Then schedule higher speeds when you want.

You cannot schedule a lower speed then what is set in filter pump..

Have you looked to see if your pump is physically running during that night schedule?

The pump is not running.

Right now the “filter pump” device goes off at 7pm and the 2000 rpm device comes on. It works to run the pump slower. Maybe the answer is to leave the “filter pump” device on the whole time and just turn on the 2000 rpm device when I wanna run at that speed😊😊

Have you gone out at night to look at what the pump is actually doing? Not what iAqualink is showing you?

Great answer. Thanks!!! My understanding has improved.

Does it really? Have you seen the pump run at night at 2000 rpm?

Yes, you need to run the filter pump the whole time. But if the filter pump is set to 2800 rpm then it will stay at 2800 and not slow to 2000 when you turn on the "2000 device".

Let me try this another way, if you want to run the pump from 11 am to 11pm, and have it run slower from 6pm to 11pm then you do it this way.

Set the Pool speed (associated with the filter pump function) to 2000 rpm and schedule the filter pump function to run from 11am to 11pm. If you want the pump to run at 2800 rpm from 11am to 6 pm, then additionally schedule speed 2800 from 11am to 6pm.

As Allen said the filter pump function turns the pump on and off and MUST be active any time you want the pump to run. When your temp display goes away the pump is off regardless of what you think is happening.

If you have two speed’s scheduled at the same time like from 11am to 6 pm as described above then the fastest speed wins. So the pump will run at 2800 rpm from 11am to 6pm, and at 6 pm when the 2800 rpm speed turns off the pump will drop to 2000 rpm as set for the pool speed. The pump continues to run at 2000 rpm until 11pm when the pump turns off.

You MUST set the pool speed to the slowest speed you ever want the pump to run. Then schedule your faster speeds as a subset of the filter pump schedule to increase speeds.

When the water temperature is not being displayed the physical pump is not running and water is not circulating.
That's not entirely accurate. I see the same thing as OP. If a schedule sets the speed to something other than filter pump when filter pump setting is off, it does circulate water without showing the temperature. Maybe it's a bug. My pool is new and that is how my builder set up the schedule originally until I fixed it.
