So.
I passed my overnight test. Fc7 at 8 last night and now fc7 at 5 am.
When I got home from the river yesterday at 4. Full sun 70 degrees. My fc went from 10 to 7 over a 24 hr period. No rain. Just an all sunny day yesterday. I added more chlorine at 4 to bring it back up to 10. Tested at 8 pm. Back to 7. Chlorine is good. Just bought it. I tested cya. It’s 30-40 I would say. I know I have to get it up bit with cya that low will I burn that much in daylight from 4 pm to dark? Bit again passed over night test. And cc is 0 since I opened even.

I know from reading here I’m good. Bit just give me another lesson or tell me I’m crazy.

Well, you clearly show no FC loss overnight - perfect. For some reason, after you added chlorine at 4 pm to get to an FC of 10, it dropped by 3 ppm (to an FC of 7) by 8 pm? That seems odd to me. Almost like there was some either wrong with one of those FC tests, or maybe the chlorine was weaker than you anticipated? Just doesn't make sense to not lose any FC overnight, go all day with practically no loss, but then lose 3 ppm between 4-8 pm. By new bleach, do you mean the Julian Date was somewhat recent (i.e. 20-080)? Oh, to be sure, you didn't have the SWG on during the OCLT did you?

Well, just keep an eye on it. That's all you can do. Curious why you were trying to increase the FC back to 10 after passing the OCLT?

Sorry let me time line it out.
Salt wasn’t on. It’s only 40 here

opened pool Thursday.
Tested water. 5 ppm
Added chlorine to get it up to 10. This was done at end of day. Not dark yet. Thursday.
checked chlorine on Friday at 4 pm. Was 7 ppm. About 24 hrs later.
added chlorine at 4 pm Friday. Same day to get back to 10.
by 8 pm on Friday. Same day was at 7 ppm Tested twice.
tested at 10 pm before I went to bed. 7 ppm
Tested this morning at 5 am. Saturday 7 ppm.

findings:
1. So pasted over night test.
2. dropped 3 ppm in a 24 hr period about Friday to saturday
3. Bit dropped 3 ppm in 4 hr period on Saturday.
Thanks!

JIm, with chilly water at about 40 degrees, you shouldn't be losing FC so fast. However some of it may be due to residual product from winterizing. That will eat-up some chlorine. If we round-up your CYA to 40, I would at least increase the FC to about 12 for today and press-on with business. Just clean things up and monitor over the weekend. Maybe do another OCLT Sunday evening/Monday morning. Your water may just be acclimating to opening and not require a full-blown SLAM yet. Maybe check back in with us Sunday/Monday to let us know how it's going.

I just added the chlorine to take it to 12 ppm. I tested before I added. Still 7 from this morning. Zero sun today. Zero. So since last night at dark it has not changed. I’ll retest in 30 to make sure what I added equals what I think it should be.
