My name is Melissa and I have an inground pool 18' x 36' shallow around 3.5 to 8 ft in the deep end. The pool was built in 2012, is 28k gallons and I live in NC. I tend to the pool myself for the most part, but I have been trekking into the pool store for readings using their computerized system for testing.
I have had 2 SWG systems and now need a 3rd. This last system was the SGS Breeze 540 - which was bought by CMP - and is no longer manufactured. I do not want to be in that position again - as the first system whose name I have since forgotten also had the same end. I am in search of a new SWG system, have been reading reviews and looking at my configuration outside and trying to figure out what to buy. Pentair IC 40 was mentioned by the pro's I call for help on things I do not know how to do or cannot do alone. The Pentair cell alone is $1100 and the power system an additional $800 but found the whole system for $1600. But the cell itself needs 12-18" of lead pipe prior to the cell housing and I have exactly 12" BUT in my current configuration the salt cell inputs are at the bottom of the cell. The Pentair is a straight shot and the return to the pool is straight down into the ground so i would have to have the pro's reconfigure and move some stuff around to accommodate it.....
So, I began my search: the pool guy store recommended the Zodiac salt system by Jandy at around $1500 or so. I googled to try and find reviews for SWG systems, clicked on Discount Salt Pools and talked to Patricia via the chat option who said that customers recommend the CircuPool RJ-45 PLUS Salt Chlorine Generator. I started reading the reviews for that generator looking for a clue and found a reviewer who mentioned this forum. And VOILA! Here I am.
I do not mind the pool care, wish I had found this forum earlier, but better late than never! I am currently seeing a yellow spot in the deep end floor, have followed the pool store directions, but took it upon myself to boost the pool overnight and found in the morning the control center was dead. That was 6 days ago now. I have chlorine tablets in the return, am ordering the TF Pro Salt testing kit and will be taking things into my own hands and not taking the trek into the pool store if i do not have to. (It eats up 2 hours of my day to go there, get water tested, purchase chems and drive back home at minimum)
