Thought I'd provide a bit of an update, reflecting on what is coming up to be 5 months of pool ownership. Hopefully it'll be helpful to fellow newbies, and if not I'll ramble anyway.
First off, I'm glad we went for the spa. At the beginning of this thread I was really debating whether or not it'd be worth the extra cost. I'm happy to say that we love it and use it several times a week. It is so nice to be able to heat it up at the end of a long day and go soak for a bit. The kids also got a chance to splash around and enjoy the "pool" before we can actually enjoy the pool.
Speaking of "pool", with the fall/winter build, it has been (comically) frustrating just looking at the hole in the ground and not really being able to use it. We heated it up one day in February, and the kiddos braved some chilly water these past few weeks out of impatience. Not yet at the point where we can swim comfortably. Still waiting!
BUT, the one advantage of having cold water for these first few months is that I was able to make ALL THE NEWBIE MISTAKES and it be all ok for it since algae ain't gonna grow in cold water anyway. I've been on Easy mode of pool ownership. Now we'll see how I do as the water warms and we move into HARD MODE! Dun dun dunnn....
And to wrap up, I do gotta say, I just love Love LOVE the way the water glistens in the sunshine. The camera cannot even remotely capture the sparkles as the sun dances on the water. It is mesmerizing. I LOVE IT!
