We just bought a home and our neighbors said the last owners filled in our hot tub that spilled down the boulders into our pool. The outline is still there. We are wanting to dig it out. Has anyone ever attempted this. The reason for filling it in is because they wanted more patio space. Thank you

How Rowdiro, welcome to TFP.

Grab that camera of yours and start taking pictures and post them up. There are a few pools that have been unburied and brought back to life. I see no reason you can’t do the same to your spa.

4,

I assume this was a gunite spa.... Have you ever used a gunite spa? If so, and you enjoyed the experience, then I say go for it.. If not... then please try one before you go to all that work..

Gunite spas are the most oversold and underused items for all pool builds.. It is obvious that the previous owners found that they did not really enjoy the spa and that is why they filled it in to add more decking. It they loved it, that would not have happened.

This is one of those "Be careful what you wish for events."

Thanks,

Jim R.

Welcome to TFP.

Digging out the dirt from the spa may be the easy part. Do you see and pipes at your equipment pad that could be the plumbing to the spa? Getting the water flowing to it will depend on the condition of all of the plumbing.

Many of us are very happy with our gunite spas connected to our pools.
