The Polaris quick disconnect automatically locks when in use. To remove it from the wall fitting you must first unlock it. This is done by pushing it into the fitting. Then you can twist it out without braking it.
I used to have a Polaris sweeper. Once I went with a robot (love 'em!) I just use my Polaris outlet as another return or as a quick hook up for the fountain Skippy made for us (see link in signature line).

As an electrical engineer (MSEE), I have no interest in using an electrically driven device in my pool water unless I personally perform or review the FMEA (failure modes and effects analysis). I'll stick with the water powered.
